(March 28th) Jiakang, director of the Institute of Finance research of
the Ministry of Finance, disclosed at the "2005 Enterprise Development
Forum" on March 27th that the government would consider allowing a
five-year transition period for foreign-funded enterprises as income
taxes are integrated. At present, there are some barriers to tax
integration, primarily the self-centered political considerations of some
departments. The non-preferential income tax may be officially
implemented as early as 2007.
